COSTA RICA MEDICAL TOURISM SERVICES (CR MTS) is Costa Rica’s premier medical tourism company. Our goal is to provide an affordable solution to the rising costs of medical care in the United States and Canada without compromising the quality and safety of the care provided.
With this specific goal in mind we have selected Costa Rica over all other countries to provide our medical services.
CR MTS has several unique advantages that directly benefit our clients and allow us to provide a superior level of service.
Our company is jointly owned and run by US and Costa Rican citizens, who as a group have extensive experience and direct contacts in Costa Rica and the USA. They know both countries well and can therefore better assist you.
CR MTS also has its own offices and personnel in both Costa Rica and the USA.
OUR OWN NETWORK OF PHYSICIANS
CR MTS has its own network of physicians that have written contracts with us to provide their services at discounted prices. Working directly with doctors, rather than hospitals, allows us to provide a better quality of service at a lower cost and provide a more personalized service.
Our system allows our patients to talk directly with our doctors about their medical condition, obtain a complete evaluation along with a cost estimate prior to coming to Costa Rica.
We have carefully screened and selected the best doctors in Costa Rica. Each one of our physicians has many years of experience in their field and is thoroughly familiar with the special needs of foreign patients. All speak English and many have studied in the United States, Canada and Europe.
OUR AREAS OF MEDICAL SPECIALTY
Our primary group of doctors is composed of 18 physicians and three dental clinics. Each are recognized leaders in their specialty and are among the best in Costa Rica. This group provides medical services to all our patients. We also have a secondary network composed of 64 additional physicians in 24 specialties that assist and work with our primary group.
All our physicians work in teams and consult and assist each other with all patient cases and surgeries. This in effect provides two to three medical opinions for each patient and procedure.
CR MTS specializes in the fields of affordable cosmetic surgery, low cost plastic and reconstructive surgery, breast augmentation, general surgery, orthopedic surgery and sports injuries, laparoscopic surgery, cardiology, bariatric surgery and obesity related illnesses.
CR MTS has the best team of orthopedists in Costa Rica. They work as a together and specialize in knee replacements, hip replacements, and hip resurfacing, hand and shoulder surgeries as well as sports injuries.
In the field of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery we have two of the most respected surgeons in Costa Rica. Each has over 10 years experience and have studied abroad.
Our team of bariatric surgeons is highly experienced. They are leaders in obesity related illnesses and weight loss surgery including gastric by passes and lap bands.
CR MTS also offers medical procedures in neurology and spinal surgery, urology, cardiology, stem cell therapies, alcohol and drug addiction recovery.
HOSPITALS IN COSTA RICA
Costa Rica has three Joint Commission International accredited (JCI) hospitals. These are the Hospital Clinica Biblica, Hospital Catolica and the Hospital Cima.
All our physicians can perform procedures at any of the three and we leave it up to our patients and their doctor to choose which hospital they want to use.
DENTAL SERVICES
CR MTS works with three of the top rated dental clinics in Costa Rica. All three are certified by independent accrediting agencies in the USA and each one has worked with thousands of foreign patients. Each one provides a wide choice of orthodontics, low cost dental implants, porcelain dental crowns and veneers as well as general and reconstructive dentistry.
We provide our patients immediate access (no waiting) to the best dental services in Costa Rica.
OUR CONCIERGE AND PERSONALIZED SERVICE
What separates us from many other medical facilitators is our personalized service. Right from the start we put you directly in contact with Harry Bandinel or Victoria Nikitina, who are our patient coordinators. They will be your main contact during your whole treatment and are responsible for coordinating all your services.
This starts with scheduling you initial phone appointment with one of our physicians, making sure you are satisfied with the physician, arranging your flight, transportation lodging and post operation needs in Costa Rica. They will also plan any travel or leisure time you want to include during your trip. Both have lived in Costa Rica for over 20 years.
We also provide each of our patients with a bilingual “Personal Concierge” that meets them at the airport upon their arrival and is there to assist them during their entire visit to Costa Rica. We also have our own staff of twenty registered nurses who are available to assist our clients with pre and post operative needs.
At CR MTS we also have the ability to provide motorized wheelchairs to our patients along with vans that have ramps for wheel chairs.

INSURANCE
We can also provide any of our patients with “complications insurance” if they wish. This is a separate insurance policy that covers the cost of any complications that may occur during and after a procedure.
It covers costs in Costa Rica and in your home country. As complication are very few, most clients do not use this service. But we offer it for those that want it.
OUR TOURISM SERVICES
We provide full complement of tourist facilities and services including transportation, lodging and dinning. This is also coordinated by Harry Bandinel or Victoria Nikitina with the assistance of several of the best tour operators in Costa Rica.
Our clients can combine medical procedures along with a vacation in places like San Jose, Tamarindo Beach, Manuel Antonio Beach, Jaco Beach, and Arenal Volcano, la Fortuna, the Osa Peninsula, Liberia, Papagayo, Dominical and Guanacaste. We know that the main reason people look to “medical tourism” as a solution to their medical needs is to save money and CR MTS makes sure our prices (PRICE COMPARISON) are competitive. We work diligently to save you money everywhere we and at the same time provide a quality of service that is second to none.
CR MTS is paid by its medical and dental service providers. Because we send a significant number of patients to our network of medical and dental providers, we have negotiated discounts in their fees. We make our money from these discounts. All our services cost our patients nothing.
We even provide our patients with free transportation during their entire stay in Costa Rica. We charge our clients no fees. All that we ask is that you register with us so we can properly assist you and earn our discount.

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE JOINT COMMISSION INTERNATIONAL (JCI)
Responding to Global demand for accreditation standards, JCAHO launched its international affiliate accreditation agency in 1999, the Joint Commission International. In order to be accredited, an international healthcare provider must meet the same set of rigorous standards set forth in the US by JCAHO.
JCI Accredited hospitals and clinics must have the same or better standards as compared to US Hospitals in clinical outcomes, infection rates, mortality rates and cleanliness.
At CR MTS all three hospitals we use in Costa Rica are JCI approved.
